Chicago

by on Aug.13, 2013, under What's New

After arriving in Chicago by train, we spent a couple of days there on a quest for tall buildings and great pizza. We found plenty of both. Just across the river from our hotel rose the stunning Trump Tower and from the double-decker HOHO bus we saw many other architectural sites of Chicago. We also spent part of a day chasing the “L”, Chicago’s legendary elevated train, around the city. Pizza was abundant and we enjoyed two of Chicago’s best: Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s. Yum!!

We also witnessed a doozy of a Midwest storm there. The lightning and thunder were nonstop for hours and the rain was torrential. Very impressive!!

We returned to Chicago after a road trip around Lake Michigan and across the UP (“upper peninsula” in Michigan-speak), to catch a flight back home. (More about that road trip later.) The highlight of our visit to the Windy City was an architectural river boat cruise. The weather was completely opposite what it was like earlier in our trip; we were treated to a gorgeous day! The morning light on the city from the boat on the harbour was lovely and we took that image with us back to California as a lasting souvenir of our visit to Chicago.

All Aboard!!

by on Jul.08, 2013, under What's New

Little more than half a century ago, train travel was THE way to go. Although air travel was “taking off,” the average family still relied mainly on trains for long distance trips.

Well, as much as we rely on air travel nowadays, we still love trains. There’s something magical about a train ride and any time we find (or make up) an opportunity to take one, we’re on! So recently we decided to start our vacation by taking Amtrak’s California Zephyr from Sacramento to Chicago. What a great experience this two-plus day trip was! We reserved a bedroom in one of the Superliner Sleeping Cars which allowed us to sleep like babes and included three meals a day in the luxurious dining car, where we met many other train-and-travel lovers like ourselves. Although our bedroom had nice windows, much of our time was spent in the observation car, where the expansive windows provided the best views. The relaxing trip included amazing views of the Sierra Nevada’s, rugged/rocky Utah, beautiful canyons along the Colorado River, and the “Rocky Mountain high.” The weather varied from blue skies and sunshine to heavy storms, and we had a couple of fabulous sunsets. Arriving at Chicago’s historical Union Station was the grand finale.

Here are a few photos from our journey…

Glamour Photo Sessions

by on Jun.21, 2013, under What's New

About Glamour Photo Sessions

When one thinks of glamour photography, they often think of billboards, calendars magazines and the likes. Subjects are usually portrayed in an alluring or romantic fashion. Photos can be fully clothed or seminude. Although you may think you have to be a professional model in order to have a glamour photo shoot, this is not the case. Photographers make use of their high-end equipment, and artistic expression to create stunning glamour photographs of anyone. Glamour photographs are excellent for marketing rising musicians, models, actresses or actors but are equally fashionable for private and personal use such as a gift for their spouse. Photographers use cosmetics, lighting and advanced airbrushing techniques to produce a flaw free image.

Preparing For Your Glamour Photo Session

Always eat a healthy, but light, meal or snack an hour or so before your photo session. Photo sessions take a great deal of energy, and you do want get tired or irritable. Bring a friend along if it makes you more comfortable most photographers will not object to this if you ask ahead of time. Be sure to wear a clear deodorant that will not mark up your clothing. Check with your photographer if makeup is included in your session. Many photographers will offer a glamour package that includes hair, makeup and assistance with wardrobe. Do not wear perfume, as this can be overwhelming for a photographer. Bring a bottle or two of water so that you stay well hydrated. Remember, most of all, to stay relaxed and enjoy yourself. Be natural and leave the rest to the photographer whose job it is to enhance your strong points and create a captivating photo by painting through his/her lens.

For the Birds…

by on Apr.28, 2013, under What's New

When Steve and I returned from our last Christmastime vacation, I couldn’t stop telling everyone about the highlight of our trip, our visit to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. Every year, thousands of  wildlife and bird-watching enthusiasts congregate at Bosque to witness the annual migration of Sand Hill Cranes. With the vast numbers of cranes and geese, the “fly-ins” and “fly-outs” each morning and evening are absolutely phenomenal. For that short period of time the sky is filled with the resonant calls of hundreds of thousands of birds. It’s something that can only be experienced fully “live” but we’d like to share a glimpse of this amazing spectacle with you…

First Year

by on Feb.03, 2013, under What's New

There is nothing that can compare to the joy (and challenges!) you experience during your baby’s first year!  It is a time that drags on too slowly during sleepless nights and flies by too fast during the precious “firsts” – the smiles, giggles, hugs, and cute games. Desert Wonderland

by on Jan.26, 2013, under What's New

Lee loves the Sonoran Desert , especially during the wintertime, so after Sedona we headed down to the Phoenix, AZ area.  A highlight in that area was a visit to the world-class Desert Botanical Garden. Here are just a few teasers from that magical place – it was impossible to pick favorites!

Red Rocks

by on Jan.19, 2013, under What's New

Sedona, Arizona is a beautiful and for some, a spiritual place. Its magnificent red rock formations, vortexes, laid back lifestyle, great food and boutique shopping make it a popular tourist destination. On our recent Southwest trip we decided to revisit Sedona as it had been many years since we’d been there. I’m glad to say it hasn’t changed much. Here are a few images from this very special place.

Southwest Road Trip

by on Jan.12, 2013, under What's New

Those of you who know us personally know that we love to take road trips and capture the beauty of our scenic country. Over the holidays we visited the Southwestern United States – Arizona and New Mexico. We’d like to share a few highlights from our road trip.

You may recall that in 2011 Steve took a long solo road trip. One of his “bucket list” items was to trace historic Route 66 and he was able to cover most of it on that trip. However he had missed one section and resolved to go back and finish it some day. We covered that section at the start of this road trip, so now he can “check that off.”

We’ll share more tidbits from our trip with you soon, including Sedona, the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, and Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico.

Meanwhile, remember Inner Vision Images photography for all of your portrait and other photographic needs in 2013! Our studio hours are 11 am-7 pm Tuesday-Friday and 9 am-6 pm Saturdays. Call us at 916.359.7543 or visit our website www.innervisionimages.com for more information.
